“For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”
dogs — Greek, “the dogs”; the impure, filthy, reprobate, enemies of the cross of Christ and the truth of the Gospel.
The impure and those that refuse to believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ harbor grudges against all that hold these words as the truth and the life of all mankind. As was prophesied, men today have tried to change God’s word into a lie, they have turned away from their creator and are worshiping the creature(man and his lust.), many take this Gospel and change words, meanings, add too and take away trying to justify their evil. They do not know the difference between the New Testament nor the Old, judgment of the Law nor the law of mercy. By grace through faith are we saved.
Many ask questions that the Lord tells us to avoid, questions that are meant to gender strife and heartache, strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, and we are instructed by the Lord here;
“But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.” The word strife simply means that people that hate Gods word try to bring about contention in anger or enmity; they desire to struggle for some fanciful victory; or to bring about a quarrel with Gods children. Unknown to these people they are being deceived by Satan and are literally being used to further Satan’s agenda, which is to destroy Gods message of Salvation and bring about the falling of any who believe in Him and His Son.
“Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.” Many today are offended by Gods truth, for He does not allow evil to become part of His kingdom, for God is not the author of evil, but evil itself breads evil. Evil cannot bring forth good for it is against its very nature. Evil is, All wickedness, all crimes, all violations of law and right are moral evils. Diseases are natural evils, but they often proceed from moral evils. Depravity; corruption of heart, or disposition to commit wickedness; malignity.
“But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” As we have learned in scripture, each time that God has attempted to save mankind, His offer of salvation has been ignored or simply rejected, we saw this in the flood of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah and at the time of Jesus.
Each time mankind turned again back to his own sense of right and wrong, as the Lord stated, “ The dog is turned to his own vomit again;” bringing forth all manner of abominations, sickness of the soul and corruption of moral values, we see this again today. Moral values mean little to mankind today, they change laws and times, they change their ideology which excludes God and they make laws promoting evil behavior. Many today call this political correctness and separation of Church and state.
And too the coming judgment we see this; “He that is unjust(acting contrary to the standard of right established by the divine law;), let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy(Polluted; defiled by sinful practices; morally impure.), let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous(consonant, adhering to the divine will), let him be righteous still: and he that is holy(sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions.), let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
The meaning of these words is simply, that as each man dies, he shall also be raised into judgment, as it is sometimes stated, as a tree falls, so shall it lay, the unjust man will be judged as an unjust man, a filthy man will be judged as a filthy man, an unbeliever will be judged as such. Each man creates works upon this world, either good or evil, those legal performances(acts or actions.) by means of which men seek to be accepted of God, or in the case of the unrighteous those illegal performances(acts or actions.) by means of which men seek to be rejected by God, believing neither in Him or His word.
For as it will be stated in the judgment of the unjust, “Depart from me ye workers of iniquity, I never knew you.”
